Comfort Our Neighbors – DO NOT USE

0% funded

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an extraordinary and indelible impact on all of us. The economic and health impacts of COVID-19 are rendering so many hardworking Americans unable to pay their bills and rent. The pain we feel when we see suffering can be paralyzing, and it is harrowing to realize that it could just as easily be us in the food bank lines. The only way out of this quagmire is to confront the challenge together. As the great leader Booker T. Washington said, “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”

Based on the tenets of “Love All – Serve All” and “Help Ever – Hurt Never,”  NCSSO was established to serve the underprivileged, impoverished and most vulnerable members of society. Our spiritual teacher, Sathya Sai Baba, taught us the importance of service to others and love of all regardless of ethnic or religious background. He founded institutions which provide free education and free healthcare to all, and His life was dedicated to elevating people out of poverty and illness and uplifting humanity.

Each November, in honor of Sathya Sai Baba’s birthday, NCSSO participates in sponsoring 10,000 meals for those in need. This November will mark His 95th birthday, and because of the unprecedented need due to COVID-19, NCSSO is announcing its newest campaign: Comfort Our Neighbors. The goal of this initiative is to provide 100,000 meals for fellow North Carolinians through two exceptional charities: Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. Both organizations are wholly committed to providing hunger relief to vulnerable children, families, and seniors in North Carolina.

With each dollar donated providing 5 meals, our goal of 100,000 meals means we need to raise $20,000 , undoubtedly possible with your generous support. Even while socially distancing and staying home, you can participate and help so many deserving people. What better use of resources is there than to relieve the hunger pangs of a child? Or to relieve the anxiety of a family not knowing where their next meal is coming from?

In appreciation of your love and generosity, NCSSO will match all donations dollar-for-dollar for this campaign. The impact of your compassion and kindness will be doubled! With each dollar you donate, your tax-deductible gift will effectively provide 10 meals for those who might otherwise go hungry. If you would like to make a donation in honor of a loved one; then please provide the name of the person and the email address / mailing address in comment section.   Lewis Carroll, the famous English writer of children’s fiction, once said, “One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others.” At this time, when friends, neighbors, coworkers, and fellow citizens are contending with unforeseen and distressing circumstances each new day, let us be thankful for our blessings and commit ourselves to alleviating their anguish and misfortune. Doing so takes just a few minutes and the rewards you reap will be lasting.

With your partnership, we aim to reach our goal by October 15, 2020.
